Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so you cancel them in iOS Settings — not in the app:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Contract Maker Pro, then Cancel Subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Pro until then. If you can't find the subscription in Settings, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe.

Can I get a refund?

All payments go through the Apple App Store, so refund requests are handled by Apple — we never see your payment and aren't able to issue refunds directly.

  1. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Sign in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe.
  3. Find the Contract Maker Pro charge and tap Report a Problem.
  4. Choose a reason and submit. Apple usually responds within 48 hours.
I subscribed on another device — how do I unlock Pro on this one?

Open the paywall in the app and tap Restore purchases. As long as you're signed in to the same Apple ID that bought the subscription, Pro will unlock immediately. If it doesn't, send us your Apple ID country and the rough date of purchase and we'll help debug.

How does the free tier work?

The free tier lets you keep one active draft at a time and export it with a "DRAFT" watermark on each page. The AI features (Smart Start, Risk Scan, Explain, Rewrite) and a few premium templates are reserved for Pro subscribers. If you delete your free draft, you can start another one.

Where are my drafts stored? Can I sync them across devices?

All drafts and templates live locally on your device. We do not sync to a cloud, and we do not store any of your contracts on our servers. This is intentional — your contracts never leave your phone unless you choose to share or export them.

If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, your drafts won't follow automatically. Export anything important as PDF or Word before deleting the app.

Is Contract Maker Pro legal advice?

No. Contract Maker Pro provides templates as a starting point, not legal advice. We are not a law firm, and using the app does not create a lawyer–client relationship. For anything where the stakes matter — high-value contracts, disputes, regulated industries, or anything affecting your rights — please consult a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.

Why doesn't the app have my state's specific clauses?

We have state-tuned clauses for 22 U.S. states across the catalog (more for residential lease, fewer for niche templates). Other states fall back to "Generic U.S." language with a disclaimer reminding you to verify state-specific rules. We add new states as we research and validate the relevant statutes — if there's a state you'd like to see, email us.

How do the AI features work? What happens to my data?

Pro features like Smart Start, Risk Scan, Explain, and Rewrite send the specific text you ask us to process to a relay server we operate, which forwards it to OpenAI's API. The response is returned to your device. We do not store your inputs or outputs on our relay, and we don't train models on your data. If you don't tap an AI button, your contract content never leaves your device.

How do I export a draft?

Open any draft, tap Export in the top-right, choose your format (PDF, Word .docx, plain text, or Markdown), then tap Export & share. iOS will open the share sheet so you can send by Mail, AirDrop, save to Files, or copy to clipboard. Pro subscribers get watermark-free exports; the free tier adds a "DRAFT" watermark to each page.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app from your device. iOS removes the app's entire local storage (drafts, templates, signatures, profile) when the app is uninstalled. Because we don't keep a server-side copy of your contracts, that's the complete delete.

If you also want to opt out of anonymized analytics before deleting, open Settings → Privacy in the app and turn off "Anonymous usage analytics".
