Overview
French Citizenship Test 2026 (shown on your device as “Examen Civique” — “the App”, “we”, “us”) is a study tool that helps you prepare for France’s civic exam (examen civique) and naturalisation. This policy explains what information the App handles, and the choices you have. We designed the App to work with as little of your data as possible.
The short version: there is no account and no sign-up. Your study progress stays on your device. We never sell your data and the App shows no third-party ads. Analytics, crash reporting and ad-campaign measurement run only if you allow tracking when iOS asks — if you decline, they stay switched off.
Who is responsible
The App is published by its independent developer, who is the “data controller” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / RGPD). The only way to contact us — for privacy matters or anything else — is by email: golukicoding@gmail.com.
Information stored on your device only
Everything you produce while studying is stored locally on your device (in the App’s local database and storage) and is not transmitted to us:
- Your study progress: lessons completed, questions answered, mock-exam results and history, accuracy statistics, streaks, XP and achievements;
- Your bookmarks, flashcard progress and custom-test settings;
- App settings: language (French/English), appearance, study preferences, notification and audio settings;
- The optional first name and optional exam date you may enter during onboarding — used only to greet you and to count down to your exam;
- Your scheduled reminder times.
There is no account and no cloud backup by us. You can erase this data at any time in the App’s Profile tab → Danger Zone (“Reset” options), and deleting the App removes it entirely.
Your choice first — App Tracking Transparency
On first launch, iOS shows the standard Apple tracking prompt (App Tracking Transparency). Your answer controls all measurement in the App:
- If you decline, analytics, crash reporting and advertising measurement are disabled — the App stays “dark” and works fully offline for studying;
- If you allow, the anonymous collection described in the next two sections is enabled.
You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Analytics and crash reporting (with your consent)
To understand how the App is used and to fix bugs, we use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. When enabled, they collect pseudonymous, aggregated information such as: which screens are opened, which features are used (e.g. a mock exam started or completed, a lesson finished), device model, OS and App version, language, and technical crash diagnostics. We do not attach your name to any of this and we cannot identify you from it.
Advertising measurement (with your consent)
We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK solely to measure our own marketing (for example, whether an ad led to an install, a free trial or a subscription). With your tracking consent, this may involve your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). The App itself displays no third-party advertising, and we never sell your data.
Purchases and subscriptions
Optional Premium subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your name, card number or billing details. To know whether Premium is active on your device, we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service: it receives a random, app-generated identifier and your purchase status/receipt from Apple — not your identity. Reminders and notifications
Study reminders (daily reminder, streak reminder, exam-date countdown) are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are optional, require your permission, and involve no server — nothing is sent to us. Turn them off any time in the App’s settings or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
Read-aloud (text-to-speech)
The optional read-aloud feature uses your device’s built-in system voices. The text is spoken on the device; it is not sent to us or to any third party by the App.
Children
The App is intended for adults preparing for the French civic exam and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
International transfers
Our service providers (Apple, Google, Meta, RevenueCat) may process data on servers outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Data retention
Data stored on your device stays there until you erase it or delete the App. Pseudonymous analytics, crash and measurement data are retained by the providers above for their standard retention periods and then deleted or aggregated.
Your rights under the GDPR
Because we collect very little and cannot usually link what we do collect to you as a person, some rights may be technically impossible for us to fulfil (the GDPR acknowledges this). Where the GDPR (RGPD) applies, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking). To exercise these rights, email golukicoding@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL, or your local authority.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time (for example if the App gains new features). The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version; material changes will be visible there before they take effect.
