About the exam

What is the examen civique?

Since 1 January 2026, France requires a civic exam for naturalisation and certain residence permits. It is a computer-based test of 40 multiple-choice questions — 28 knowledge questions and 12 situational questions (mises en situation) — in 45 minutes. You pass with 32 correct answers out of 40 (80%). The App mirrors this format in its mock exams.

Are these the official questions?

Partly. Some knowledge questions reuse the question stems from the official public question bank published by the ministère de l’Intérieur (under the Licence Ouverte / Etalab 2.0). Answer options, explanations, situational scenarios and lessons are our own original preparation material. The real exam may always differ — treat the App as training, not as the actual test.

Where do I find official information or register for the exam?

Always use official sources for procedures, eligibility and registration — start at service-public.gouv.fr and formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr. The App is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with any French authority.

Using the app

Does the app work offline?

Yes — 100%. All lessons, questions, mock exams and your progress live on your device. No account, no internet needed to study. (An internet connection is only needed for subscribing to Premium.)

How do I switch between French and English?

Use the language button in the app, or go to Settings and change the language. French is the primary language (like the real exam); English is there to support your understanding while you learn.

How does read-aloud (text-to-speech) work?

Open any lesson and use the speaker controls to have it read aloud. It uses your device’s built-in voices — for better quality, download an enhanced French voice in iOS Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.

My reminders don’t arrive — what should I check?
  1. In the App: Profile tab → Notifications — make sure reminders are on and the time is right.
  2. In iOS: Settings → Notifications → Examen Civique — allow notifications.
  3. Check that a Focus mode (Do Not Disturb) isn’t silencing them.

All reminders are scheduled locally on your device — nothing is sent through a server.

Premium, trial & billing

What does Premium include?
FeatureFreePremium
Mock exams1 per dayUnlimited
Question bankLimitedAll questions
LessonsFirst subjectAll 5 subjects
Custom test builder3 triesIncluded

Two plans: weekly (with a 3-day free trial) and annual (best value). Prices are shown in the App.

How does the 3-day free trial work?

The weekly plan starts with a 3-day free trial (if you’re eligible — typically once per Apple Account). You get full Premium immediately. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into the paid weekly subscription. Cancelling during the trial keeps Premium active until the trial’s end, free of charge.

How do I cancel my subscription?
  1. Open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or App Store app → your profile → Subscriptions).
  2. Select the App and tap Cancel subscription.

Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

I reinstalled / got a new phone — how do I get Premium back?

In the App, open the Profile tab → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. Your subscription comes back at no extra cost. (Study progress, however, is stored on-device only and does not transfer — see “Your data” below.)

Can I get a refund?

Payments are processed by Apple, so refunds go through Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and request a refund for the purchase. Apple decides refunds under its own policy; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.

Your data

Where is my progress stored?

Entirely on your device. There is no account and no cloud sync by us. Important: deleting the App (or resetting in Settings) permanently erases your progress — it cannot be recovered by us.

How do I reset my progress or all data?

Open the Profile tab → Danger Zone in the App. You can reset settings only, or reset everything (progress, results, achievements). This is immediate and irreversible.

What about privacy?

Short version: no account, no data selling, no third-party ads; anonymous analytics only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. Full details in our Privacy Policy. For privacy requests, email golukicoding@gmail.com.

Troubleshooting & feedback

The app crashes or behaves oddly
  1. Force-close the App and reopen it.
  2. Check the App Store for an update.
  3. Restart your device.

Still stuck? Email us with your device model, iOS version and App version. Please don’t reinstall as a first resort — deleting the App erases your study progress.

I think a question or lesson is wrong

Laws and facts evolve, and we want to know. Email golukicoding@gmail.com with a screenshot or the question text and, if you can, a link to an official source. Verified corrections ship in updates.

I have a feature idea

We read everything. Send your idea to golukicoding@gmail.com — and if the App helps you, a rating on the App Store helps other candidates find it.
