Welcome to MTG Card Scanner!

MTG Card Scanner helps you easily scan, organize, and manage your Magic: The Gathering card collection. Here's how to get started:

  1. Home Screen: Quick access to all main features
  2. Browse & Scan: Search the card database or scan physical cards
  3. My Collection: View and manage your cards
  4. Build Deck: Create custom decks for different formats
  5. Profile: Manage settings and subscription

How to Scan a Single Card

  1. Tap "Browse & Scan" on the home screen
  2. Tap the camera icon
  3. Choose "Take Photo" or "Choose from Library"
  4. Position the card clearly in the frame
  5. The app will automatically recognize the card name
  6. Review the results and add to your collection

💡 Pro Tip: For best results, scan cards in good lighting with minimal glare. Make sure the card name is clearly visible!

Bulk Scanning (Premium Feature)

Premium users can scan multiple cards in one session:

  1. Tap "Bulk Scan" from the Browse screen
  2. Scan cards one after another
  3. Review all scanned cards at once
  4. Add successful scans to your collection in bulk

Scan Troubleshooting

❌ Card not recognized?
  • Ensure good lighting without glare or shadows
  • Make sure the card name is fully visible and in focus
  • Try cleaning the card surface if it's dirty or damaged
  • For very old or obscure cards, try manual search instead
📷 Camera permission denied?

iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → MTG Scanner → Enable

Android: Settings → Apps → MTG Scanner → Permissions → Camera → Allow

🔒 Scan limit reached?

Free users get 10 scans per month. Your limit resets on the 1st of each month. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited scanning!

Adding Cards to Collection

There are multiple ways to add cards:

Exporting Your Collection (Premium)

  1. Go to My Collection
  2. Tap the menu icon (three dots)
  3. Select "Export Collection"
  4. Choose format: CSV or JSON
  5. Save the file to your device or share it

💡 Pro Tip: Export your collection regularly as a backup! The app stores data locally, so exporting protects against data loss.

Creating a New Deck

  1. Go to the Decks tab
  2. Tap "Create New Deck"
  3. Enter a deck name
  4. Select a format (Standard, Modern, Commander, etc.)
  5. Add cards from your collection or search the database

Managing Your Subscription

To Subscribe:

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my data backed up to the cloud?

A: Currently, all data is stored locally on your device. We recommend exporting your collection regularly (Premium feature) as a backup. Cloud sync may be added in future updates.

Q: Where do card prices come from?

A: Card prices are sourced from the Scryfall API, which aggregates data from various marketplaces. Prices are for informational purposes only and update periodically.

Q: Can I use the app offline?

A: You can browse your collection and view previously cached cards offline. However, scanning, searching, and price updates require an internet connection.

Q: What happens if I uninstall the app?

A: All locally stored data (collection, decks, preferences) will be permanently deleted. Make sure to export your collection before uninstalling!

Q: When does my scan limit reset?

A: Free users get 10 scans per month. The limit resets on the 1st day of each month at midnight UTC.

Q: Can I scan cards in languages other than English?

A: Card recognition works best with English cards. Other languages may have limited accuracy depending on the card and language.

Q: Why is my collection value different from expected?

A: Collection value is calculated using current market prices from Scryfall. Prices fluctuate daily based on supply, demand, and market conditions. The value shown is an estimate and may not reflect actual selling prices.

Q: How do I request a refund?

A: All purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests must be made directly through the platform:

App Crashes or Freezes

  1. Force quit the app and reopen it
  2. Ensure you have the latest version from the App Store/Play Store

Scan Not Working

  1. Go to Profile → "Restore Purchases"
  2. Close and reopen the app
  3. Check your subscription status in App Store/Play Store
  4. If still not working, contact support with your purchase receipt
