How do I add an expense?
  1. Tap the + button (floating action button) at the bottom right
  2. Choose Manual Entry to type details manually
  3. Or choose Scan Receipt to use AI extraction (premium)
  4. Fill in amount, merchant, category, and other details
  5. Tap Save
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free Tier:
  • 20 expenses per month
  • 2 budgets maximum

How does AI receipt scanning work?

AI receipt scanning (premium feature) uses OpenAI's vision technology to extract data from receipt photos:

  1. Take a photo of your receipt or select from gallery
  2. AI analyzes the image and extracts: amount, merchant, date, category
  3. Review the extracted data (always verify for accuracy!)
  4. Edit any incorrect fields
  5. Save the expense
💡 Tip: For best results, ensure receipt is well-lit, in focus, and all text is visible.
How do I create a budget?
  1. Navigate to the Budget tab
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Select a category (Food, Transportation, etc.)
  4. Set the budget amount
  5. Choose period: Monthly or Yearly
  6. Tap Create Budget

Free users can create up to 2 budgets. Premium users have unlimited budgets.

How do budget alerts work?

Premium users receive notifications when:

  • You reach 75% of your budget
  • You reach 90% of your budget
  • You exceed your budget (100%+)

Enable notifications in Settings > Notifications

Can I import data from my bank?

Yes! You can import:

  • CSV files - Export from your bank and import
  • PDF statements - AI extracts transactions (premium)
  • Multiple receipts - Batch process photos (premium)

Go to Import tab to access these features.

How do I export my data?

Premium feature:

  1. Go to Reports tab
  2. Select date range and filters
  3. Choose export format:
    • CSV - For spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets)
    • PDF - For printing or archiving
  4. File will be saved to your device
Where is my data stored?

All your data is stored locally on your device:

  • We do NOT upload your data to any cloud servers
  • Your expenses, budgets, and photos stay on your phone
  • This ensures maximum privacy
⚠️ Important: If you delete the app or reset your device, all data will be lost. We recommend exporting your data regularly (premium feature).
How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS (iPhone/iPad):

  1. Open Settings app
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select Expense Tracker
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription

Android:

  1. Open Google Play Store
  2. Tap Menu (☰) > Subscriptions
  3. Select Expense Tracker
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

You'll keep premium access until the end of your billing period.

How do I restore my premium subscription?
  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Tap Upgrade to Premium
  3. Tap Restore Purchases
  4. Your subscription will be restored if active
